Outdoor & garden
lighting for Dubai's evenings

We design, supply and install layered landscape lighting that makes your garden and outdoor spaces as usable and beautiful after dark as they are by day — with climate-rated fixtures and DEWA-compliant installation.

What It Means

A lighting plan before a single cable is trenched

Outdoor and garden lighting is more than placing fixtures along a path. Done well, it is a layered system — ambient light for general visibility, accent lighting to reveal the character of trees, planting and architecture, and task lighting for the places people actually use: pool decks, outdoor kitchens, steps, driveways.

In Dubai, the design logic starts with the climate. Fixtures must carry an IP65 rating at minimum to withstand dust, heat and occasional heavy rain. Cabling routes need to be coordinated before paving or planting goes in, not retrofitted after. And because the evenings are when Dubai's outdoor life truly happens — comfortable temperatures, outdoor entertaining, night swimming — the lighting scheme is often the detail that determines whether a garden is actually used or simply admired from indoors.

Hornbill designs the lighting layer as part of the landscape masterplan, not as an afterthought. That means conduit routes buried at the right time, light positions agreed against the planting layout, and smart controls scoped from the outset — so nothing has to be dug up or replanted later.

Our Process

From lighting brief to final fitting

A structured approach ensures that outdoor lighting is beautifully integrated into your landscape plan and built to last.

01

Site Walk & Lighting Brief

We walk the property at dusk wherever possible — mapping zones, identifying key features to illuminate, understanding how you use the space after dark, and noting any existing cabling or control infrastructure we can work with.

Zone mapping Usage brief Existing infrastructure audit
02

Layered Lighting Design

We produce a full lighting plan showing fixture positions, types and beam angles across every zone — coordinated with the landscape layout so nothing conflicts with planting beds, paving joints or irrigation heads.

Layered lighting zones Fixture schedule Landscape coordination
03

Fixture Specification & Control Design

Every fixture is specified for IP rating, colour temperature, beam angle and material — selected for Dubai's UV intensity, heat and coastal humidity. Control zones and smart-automation requirements are scoped and priced at this stage.

IP-rated specification Colour temperature selection Smart control design
04

Electrical Coordination & Approvals

Electrical routing is drawn up and, where required, submitted for DEWA compliance and community-authority review. Conduit positions are confirmed before any hardscape or soft landscaping begins.

05

Installation, Testing & Commissioning

Our team installs all cabling, fixtures and control systems in sequence with the wider landscape build. We commission every zone at night, adjusting beam angles and brightness levels until the result matches the design intent — not just the wiring diagram.

Why Hornbill

Lighting designed for Dubai's nights, not adapted to them

Our engineered approach ensures a reliable, safe, and beautifully balanced outcome for your villa garden.

Climate-Rated Specification

Every fixture carries an IP65 minimum for general outdoor use, IP67 for in-ground, and IP68 for water features to withstand Gulf dust, heat and humidity.

Coordinated Landscape Build

Conduit routes are buried before paving goes down, and cable positions are coordinated with irrigation layouts — meaning no post-build dig-ups.

DEWA-Compliant Wiring

All wiring routes, sizing, protective devices, and grounding are designed and installed strictly in line with DEWA regulations.

Night-Time Commissioning

We return to the site at night to physically adjust angles, glare shields, and controls until the visual performance matches your design expectations.

Frequently Asked

Outdoor & garden lighting, answered

A Hornbill lighting plan covers a layered design — ambient, accent and task lighting — across all zones: entrance and driveway, garden paths, planting beds, trees, pool or water features, pergolas and façade. It specifies fixture types, IP ratings, wiring routes, control zones and any smart-automation programming, and is coordinated with the landscape masterplan so cables and conduits are buried before paving is laid.
For general garden and pathway use, IP65-rated fixtures are the minimum we specify — they resist the dust and occasional heavy rain Dubai sees. In-ground uplights require IP67 (submersion protection) and any fixtures inside pools or water features must be IP68. Dubai's coastal humidity, sandstorms and UV intensity mean we do not install fixtures rated below IP65 in any exterior application.
Solar pathway and border lights perform well in Dubai given the high annual sun hours. We specify quality solar fittings with heat-rated batteries and position them away from shade. For high-output security lighting, feature uplighting and pool lighting, we recommend wired LED installations for consistent brightness and runtime, particularly during the short winter days or during periods of heavy dust.
Yes. We design lighting zones that are compatible with leading smart-home platforms, allowing scheduling, dimming and scene control via app or voice. For larger villas and commercial sites, we can specify a dedicated landscape lighting controller that manages multiple zones independently — useful for separating security lighting, ambience lighting and feature lighting on different schedules.
Yes. We manage the full installation including trenching, conduit laying, cabling and final fixture fitting. All electrical work is carried out in line with DEWA requirements and UAE wiring regulations. For community villas in master-development areas, we coordinate approvals with the relevant developer authority where these are required before work begins.
Cost depends on the property size, number of zones and fixtures, the depth of smart integration, trenching distance and fixture specification. A compact villa garden with pathway lights and a few feature spots has a very different scope to a full multi-zone lighting scheme for a large plot with pool, pergola and driveway lighting. We scope every project against your specific site and brief during a consultation rather than quoting a flat rate.
