Outdoor and garden lighting is more than placing fixtures along a path. Done well, it is a layered system — ambient light for general visibility, accent lighting to reveal the character of trees, planting and architecture, and task lighting for the places people actually use: pool decks, outdoor kitchens, steps, driveways.
In Dubai, the design logic starts with the climate. Fixtures must carry an IP65 rating at minimum to withstand dust, heat and occasional heavy rain. Cabling routes need to be coordinated before paving or planting goes in, not retrofitted after. And because the evenings are when Dubai's outdoor life truly happens — comfortable temperatures, outdoor entertaining, night swimming — the lighting scheme is often the detail that determines whether a garden is actually used or simply admired from indoors.
Hornbill designs the lighting layer as part of the landscape masterplan, not as an afterthought. That means conduit routes buried at the right time, light positions agreed against the planting layout, and smart controls scoped from the outset — so nothing has to be dug up or replanted later.

From lighting brief to final fitting
A structured approach ensures that outdoor lighting is beautifully integrated into your landscape plan and built to last.
Site Walk & Lighting Brief
We walk the property at dusk wherever possible — mapping zones, identifying key features to illuminate, understanding how you use the space after dark, and noting any existing cabling or control infrastructure we can work with.
Layered Lighting Design
We produce a full lighting plan showing fixture positions, types and beam angles across every zone — coordinated with the landscape layout so nothing conflicts with planting beds, paving joints or irrigation heads.
Fixture Specification & Control Design
Every fixture is specified for IP rating, colour temperature, beam angle and material — selected for Dubai's UV intensity, heat and coastal humidity. Control zones and smart-automation requirements are scoped and priced at this stage.
Electrical Coordination & Approvals
Electrical routing is drawn up and, where required, submitted for DEWA compliance and community-authority review. Conduit positions are confirmed before any hardscape or soft landscaping begins.
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
Our team installs all cabling, fixtures and control systems in sequence with the wider landscape build. We commission every zone at night, adjusting beam angles and brightness levels until the result matches the design intent — not just the wiring diagram.

Smart Control & Automation
Zone controllers, timers or full smart-home integration programmed and commissioned — so security lighting, ambience scenes and feature zones operate independently.
Pool, Pergola & Feature Lighting
Underwater pool lights (IP68), string lights, pendant fixtures and wall-mounted fittings for entertaining zones — specified and installed to DEWA wiring standards.
