We translate your site, the UAE climate and the way you actually live outdoors into a single coherent masterplan — from the first survey to the final construction drawing — so every path, terrace and planting bed works together before a single stone is laid.
What it means
Landscape masterplanning is the strategic layer that sits above plant lists and paving samples. It's where we study how the sun moves across your plot, how your family or guests will actually move through the garden, where shade and privacy are needed, and how the outdoor space should relate to the architecture of the villa or building itself.
The result is a single, coordinated document — zoning, circulation, planting, materials, irrigation and lighting all considered together — rather than a collection of disconnected decisions made on-site. For Dubai's heat, glare and sandy soils, that upfront planning is what separates a garden that thrives for years from one that's reworked every season.
As a design-build contractor, Hornbill carries the masterplan we draw through to execution ourselves, so the design intent isn't lost in handover between a designer and a separate construction crew.
Our Process
A five-stage process that takes a raw plot — or an underperforming existing garden — through to a fully documented, build-ready landscape plan.
We walk the plot to map topography, soil condition, sun and shade patterns, prevailing wind, existing trees and views — then sit with you to understand how you want to use the space.
The first full layout: zoning, circulation paths, sightlines and spatial hierarchy, balancing the architecture of the villa or building with the way the garden will be lived in.
Photorealistic renders let you walk through the design before anything is built, alongside a defined material and planting palette so finishes are agreed early, not improvised on-site.
Every element is translated into construction-grade drawings — irrigation and lighting coordinated in — and submitted for Dubai Municipality or community-authority approval where required.
Because Hornbill builds what it designs, the masterplan moves directly into our softscape, hardscape, irrigation and lighting teams — with no re-briefing, re-pricing or re-interpretation.
What You Receive
Every Landscape Design & Masterplanning engagement is documented to the same standard, whether the project is a private villa garden or a multi-plot community.
Topography, soil, sun path, drainage and existing vegetation documented before a single design line is drawn.
How the garden is divided — entertaining, dining, play, pool, service — and how people move between each zone.
Species and finishes selected for the way they'll perform in Dubai's heat, glare and soil — not just how they render.
Photorealistic visualizations so you can sign off on layout, scale and material before construction begins.
Build-ready documentation covering hardscape, planting layout, irrigation routing and lighting coordination.
Drawings prepared and submitted to the standard required by Dubai Municipality and master-community authorities.
Why Hornbill
Design decisions made for a temperate climate fail quietly in the Gulf. Ours are made for this one from the first sketch.
One contractor carries the masterplan from concept through to softscape, hardscape and final planting — no handover risk between designer and builder.
Native and climate-adapted species, microclimate mapping and shade strategy are built into every layout, not added as a sustainability footnote.
As the landscaping arm alongside Hornbill Interiors, our masterplans are designed to read as a continuation of the home, not a separate project.
Drawings are prepared to the standard authorities expect the first time, so your project timeline isn't held up at the submission stage.
