We design and install irrigation systems built for the UAE climate — drip irrigation, smart controllers, pop-up sprinklers and soil-moisture automation — keeping your landscape healthy without wasting water.
What It Means
In a climate where air temperatures exceed 45°C in summer and sandy soils drain far faster than temperate garden earth, hand-watering is neither practical nor efficient. A correctly designed irrigation system delivers water precisely to root zones, at the right intervals, without the surface evaporation losses that make manual watering so wasteful in the Gulf.
The difference between an irrigation system that performs and one that fails within a season lies almost entirely in the design stage: zone groupings matched to actual plant water requirements, pipe sizing that accounts for Dubai's mains pressure, UV-resistant components that survive direct sun, and a controller programmed to the seasonal rhythm of the UAE — not the factory default for a temperate climate.
Because Hornbill designs and installs landscape as a single scope, irrigation is coordinated with planting layout before a trench is cut. Drip lines run to each bed, sprinkler arcs are calculated to cover lawn areas without overlap waste, and zone boundaries follow the actual water needs of the plants — not the easiest route for the pipe.
Our Process
A five-stage process that takes a new plot or an underperforming existing garden through to a fully commissioned, zone-tested irrigation installation.
We assess water connection points, mains pressure, soil drainage rate, plot dimensions and the planting programme — whether Hornbill is supplying it or it already exists — to establish the hydraulic parameters the system must work within.
The garden is divided into hydraulic zones — each group of plants sharing similar water requirements, sun exposure and soil conditions. Lawn, shrub beds, palm rows and feature planting all receive their own zone and emitter specification, matched to the flow rate available at each valve.
We specify components suited to Dubai's conditions: UV-resistant mainline pipe, pressure-compensating drip emitters, pop-up sprinkler heads with matched arc and radius, solenoid valves rated for continuous outdoor use, and a smart controller with weather-based adjustment and remote monitoring capability.
Mainlines are trenched and laid before final landscape surfacing, lateral lines routed to each planting bed, drip emitters positioned at the base of each plant, and pop-up heads set flush to lawn level. Valve boxes are positioned for easy access without disrupting the finished surface.
Every zone is run and flow-tested before sign-off. The controller is programmed to Dubai's seasonal watering calendar — longer morning runs in summer, reduced cycles in the cooler months — and the client receives a handover that covers manual override, seasonal adjustments and how to read any fault alerts.
What You Receive
Every Hornbill irrigation installation is documented and commissioned to the same standard.
A scaled layout showing zone boundaries, pipe routes, valve locations, emitter positions and coverage arcs — used for installation and future reference.
UV-resistant mainline and lateral pipework with pressure-compensating emitters positioned at each plant. Delivers water to root zones, reducing evaporation.
Lawn and ground-cover areas covered by pop-up heads set flush to the finished surface, calibrated to eliminate dry patches and overlap waste.
A weather-based smart controller with soil moisture sensors adjusts watering schedules automatically. Monitor and override from a smartphone app.
Solenoid valves and manifold assembly housed in accessible valve boxes — each zone independently adjustable so any section can be run or modified.
Full zone flow test results, controller programming documentation and a seasonal watering schedule calibrated to Dubai's climate.
Why Hornbill
Our engineered approach ensures a reliable, safe, and beautifully balanced outcome for your villa garden.
Drip lines are routed to every bed before backfill. No cutting into finished surfaces, no guessing at root zones, no post-build dig-ups.
UV-resistant pipes, pressure-compensating emitters, and controllers rated for continuous exposure in direct sun. No degradation after one summer.
Weather-based controllers and soil moisture sensors programed to the UAE's actual seasonal watering pattern — not factory defaults.
We audit, re-zone, and upgrade underperforming existing systems (blocked emitters, dead zones, old timers) rather than full replacement.
